LAURA GLENN DOUGLAS (1886–1962)
Laura Glenn Douglas was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina, and began her studies at the College for Women in Columbia, South Carolina. She later attended the Corcoran School of Art and Design in Washington, D.C. and in 1925, she was in New York at the Art Students League.
From 1927–1935 Douglas studied in Paris with Fernand Léger and in Munich with Hans Hoffman. Douglas’s paintings were shown widely in Paris, including at important exhibitions such the Salon d’Automne, the Salon des Tuileries, and the Salon des Indépendants.
