Biography Lena Rue Kirby Trujillo
Lena Rue Kirby was born on September 9, 1900. It is known she lived at 1142 Indiana in Lawrence, Kansas in
1922. Miss Kirby received a Bachelor of Design at the University of Kansas, Lawrence in June 1922. Kirby exhibited at Midwestern Artists Exhibition in 1922 and 1923. She won the Gold Medal for watercolor at Midwestern Artists Exhibition in 1923.
Lena Rue married Richard M. Trujillo soon after this. Lena Rue Trujillo moved to New York where she was a commercial artist and cartoonist in New York City from 1928 to 1942. She also did fashion illustration and worked in the art department at Vogue Magazine in the 1930s.
