Biography   Lenora (Leora) McNess Smith

Born in Tallahassee, Florida, Lenora Mc Ness Smith had a career as a painter and art educator in Texas, living in Kingsville until 1951, and then Cleveland, where she died in 1980.  She earned a BA degree in Denton at the College of Industrial Arts, now Texas Women's University, and from 1925 to 1935, chaired the Art Department in Kingsville at the College of Arts and Industries, which became Texas A & M.  Amonger her teachers were Frederic Taubes and Jacob Getlar Smith, with whom she studied in summer sessions at Corpus Christi.
