Leonora Penniman

Leonora Naylor Penniman was active/lived in California, Minnesota.  Leonora Penniman is known for landscape, marine, still life painting.

Biography   Leonora Penniman

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 2, 1884. Leonora Naylor moved to Chicago with her family in 1897.  She attended the University of Chicago where her father was a member of the faculty.  While there she studied art with Emma Siboni and her drawings were chosen to be exhibited at the Paris Int'l Expo.

In 1906 she went to Santa Cruz, CA to visit an aunt.   While there, she met Harry Penniman and married him in 1907.   Throughout her marriage she was an active partner in the Penniman Title Company.  She was a founding member of the Santa Cruz Art League and responsible for inaugurating the series of statewide exhibitions there.  She later spent one summer of study at Mills College under Lyonel
