Biography   Lizzie Eichbaum


The following is submitted by William A Anderson, maternal great grand-nephew of Lizzie Eichbaum and her brother, George Eichbaum.

Lizzie Eichbaum was born in July of 1852. She was the sister of George C. Eichbaum who was a prominent portrait painter in Saint Louis during the late 1800s and early 1900s. They shared the studio at 816 Olive Street in Saint Louis, and they, along with their sister Helen, lived at 5104 Shaw Avenue. They later resided at 4120 Castleman Ave.

Lizzie was educated in Saint Louis and New Albany, Indiana after which she took up art as a vocation. She studied in the Saint Louis School of Fine Arts. In 1882, she was
