During the 1880s Lottie was a prostitute in Bodie, CA. She took up painting after her marriage to local businessman Eli Johl and filled their home with her paintings. A druggist accidently poisoned her in Bodie on Nov. 7, 1899. In: Museum Resource Center (Sacramento).
