Biography   Louisa Kennon "Lulie" Critcher


The sister of Catharine Critcher, she was an artist and teacher and ran the Critcher Art School on Connecticut Avenue with her sister.  She was born and lived in Washington DC at 1726 Connecticut Avenue, and is buried in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia.

She was raised on her family's estate, Audley, which was a plantation in Westmoreland County, Virginia.  Her father, John Critcher, had been a lieutenant colonel in the Confederate Army and in 1871 was elected from Virginia to the U.S. Congress.
