Biography Lowell Dyer
Born in New York in 1856, Lowell Dyer studied with Jean Leon Gerome in
Paris. In the 1890s, he moved to England and took up residence in the
art colony at St. Ives in Cornwall (see AskART Glossary), becoming a
member of the St. Ives Art Club.
He had close friendships with Glasgow painter Thomas Millie Dow and American painter Kenyon Cox.
His work displays influences of the Pre-Raphaelites, Burne-Jones, and Tonalism.
Lowell Dyer died in 1915.
