Lucius A. Briggs was active/lived in Massachusetts, Rhode Island.  Lucius Briggs is known for marine watercolor painting, portraits.

Biography   Lucius A. Briggs

Lucius A. Briggs  (1852-1931) Very little is known about this artist. He was born in Massachusetts and the family moved to Providence, Rhode Island shortly after. He is noted as listed in the Boston City Directories in 1894 - 1896 as an artist.  He died of Pneumonia in 1931.

Although his work covers a host of genre's, and he advertised as a portrait artist, the majority of his work for which he is now best known, is his marine paintings in watercolor. Paintings by him of still-life are extremely rare!  They do, however, as is apparent in some of his work, show an excellent knowledge and handling of the subject.

His work is in the Kendall Whaling Museum, Sharon, MA, the Mariners Museum, Newport News   ...  Displaying 750 of 2347 characters.
