Lydia Grace Rhodes Paxton McLean was born in Jasper County, Iowa on Feb. 21, 1885. Grace wed Frank McLean about 1915 while living in Oregon. She studied with John Vanderpoel, Harry Walcott, Lawrence Murphy, and at the Art Institute of Chicago. She was active in Los Angeles, Eagle Rock and Pasadena in the 1930s and taught at the Pasadena Academy of Fine Arts and Stickney Art School. Mrs. McLean died in Los Angeles on June 23, 1972.
