Born in El Centro, CA on June 12, 1918. After her marriage in 1939 to Henry Breilein, Lyla lived in Bakersfield until 1947. For the next 31 years she lived in Santa Barbara where she was active with the Artist's Workshop. With that group she made painting excursions to the local mission and other scenic spots of the area. She died in Bakersfield, CA on March 15, 1993.
