Born in Denmark in 1855. By the 1890s Nielsen had settled in San Francisco into a studio at 645 Washington Street. He studied locally at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute and became a successful producer of portrait busts. He later worked as a longshoreman until shortly before his death in Oakland, CA on April 10, 1932. Exh: San Francisco Art Association, 1896-1914; Mechanics' Inst.
