Mannie (Manuel) Gonsalves AFCA,CIPP, ASA (b. 1926 )
Mannie Gonsalves is an impressionist painter who was born in South Africa and has been living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada since the early 1950's. His mediums are oil and pastel and his subjects are landscapes of Alberta, British Columbia and North Dakota, and portraits. He has also done some harbor boat scenes.
He studied at the Johannesburg Art College, the Escola de Belas Artes (Lisbon) and the Alberta College of Art (Calgary). He has also studied with Robert Lougheed and Sergei Bongart. His work shows the influence of Roland Gissing (1895 - 1967), a prominent fellow Alberta artist, and frequent sketching partner at the Calgary Sketch
