Born in Coffeyville, Kansas, Marian Cronk later moved to Colorado where she studied at the Broadmoor Art Academy in Colorado Springs and the Chappell House (forerunner to the Denver Art Museum). She was also a pupil of Thomas Hart Benton and John Sloan. Cronk was a recipient of a Guggenheim Traveling Fellowship in 1934.

Exhibited:
Denver Art Museum, 1935 (prize); Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1936 (prize); Worlds Fair, 1939, Macbeth Gallery, New York; National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors (44th annual Exhibition); Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
