Marie Colette was born in New York and raised by her mother in the northeastern province of Champagne, France. At the tender age of seven, Marie began formal painting lessons. She received her baccalaureate in Paris and then attended the prestigious Academie Julian (now known as the Ecole Superieure d'Arts Graphiques-Penninghen). Former students of the renowned art school include Henri Matisse, Diego Rivera and Fernand Leger. Marie Colette worked in Paris at the world-renowned Hermes department stores where she applied her unique flare to window design and decoration.
