Biography Marie Garesche
Marie Garesche was an artist, author, lecturer and art educator who was an instructor for many years of art and art history at Soldan High School in St. Louis, Missouri.
She took her art training at Washington University in St. Louis. In school, she was editor of an art publication called "Palette Scrapings" from January 1882 to June 1884. It was written and illustrated by art students of Washington University.
Marie Garesche was also an active person in the community where she was a charter member of the Wednesdy Club, which for many years was the largest and most influential woman's club in St. Louis. She worked hard for women's suffrage, and In 1903, "blasted the World's Fair Co. for the 'limited sphere allotted to women'
