Alumnus Returns to the Site of His Inspiration
When he was a Columbia student in the late 1920s, Mark Freeman was well known as the campus artist. He "draws and draws, from dawn till day is done," according to his senior profile in the 1930 Columbian, the College yearbook.
His work distinguished the Columbian, where his redesign and Art Deco illustrations brought the annual to a new modernity, and the literary magazines "Morningside" and "Varsity." He was art editor of all three.
