Biography Marshall Drew
Marshall Brines Drew was born in Greenport, NY. An art teacher at
Grover Cleveland High School in New York City for 36 years, he was a
survivor of the Titanic disaster in 1912. Mr. Drew, who was 8 at the time, was traveling on the Titanic
with his aunt and uncle when the ship sank on it's maiden voyage
killing 1,513 people. His uncle, James Drew, perished in the disaster.
His aunt, Lulu Drew survived.
After his retirement from teaching, Drew lived in Westerly, Rhode
Island. He summered on the North Fork of Long Island almost every
summer of his life. There he painted the local landscape.
He died at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport.
