Biography Martha Kellar
Born in Alamogordo, New Mexico, she moved at age five to Evanston, Illinois. Viewing work at the Chicago Art Institute inspired her to become an artist. She majored in fine art at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky and has worked as a professional artist since 1979.
For the first ten years of her career, she painted only in pastels and was a member of the Pastel Society of America. In 1989, she began painting in oils, which she then adopted exclusively for her still lives. Since 1974, she and her family have lived in LaLuz, New Mexico.
