Martinus Andersen (1878-1942) was an active and visible painter in Indiana between 1910 and 1915—when he left the state in order to seek fame and fortune in New York City. During this five year period Andersen exhibited regularly in all the major venues in the state along with the famed members of the “Hoosier Group” and the Society of Western Artists (SWA) who were then in their heyday.
