Born in Omaha, NE on Feb. 13, 1878. Mary Hanting studied at the AIC before graduating from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Returning to Omaha, she became head of the art department at Central High School. As the wife of Chas B. Offerman, she came to southern California in 1922 and settled in Chula Vista. She further studied locally with Maurice Braun and Alfred Mitchell. Her painting locales included Lake Almanor, Palm Desert, and the area around Chula Vista. She died there on July 8, 1947.
