Mary Emma (ME) Flood

Mary Emma (M.E.) Flood was active/lived in New York, California.  Mary Flood is known for portrait busts and reliefs, animals, sports figures, garden and fountain sculpture.

Biography   Mary Emma (M.E.) Flood

Born in San Francisco, CA on July 7, 1900.  Mary was the granddaughter of Comstock Lode silver king James Flood.  She studied at the ASL in NYC and in Paris at Académie Colarossi under Antoine Bourdelle who had been Rodin's assistant. 

Flood was active in San Francisco in the 1920s and maintained a studio in her home at 1940 Vallejo Street.  Working in bronze, she created busts, animals, garden compositions, football players, and heroic statues. 

In 1930 she wed banker Theodore Stebbins and stopped sculpting.  In 1932 the couple settled on Long Island, NY where Mrs. Stebbins remained until her death in Muttontown on Aug. 11, 1987.
