Born on Oct. 7, 1889 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Rée studied at the Royal Academy in Denmark. By 1927 he had settled in Los Angeles where he designed stage sets and costumes. In 1931 he received an Oscar for art direction of the movie "Cimmaron." He also was known for his cartoons in the New Yorker magazine. Rée died in Los Angeles on March 7, 1953.
