Biography Max Schlichting
Max Schlichting was a German painter. He was a pupil of Franz Skarbina, Woldemar Friedrich and Eugen Bracht at the Berlin Academy (1885-1892). From 1893 onwards, Schlichting was a member of the Verein Berliner Künstler and student of Jules Lefebre and Gabriel Ferrier at the Académie Julian, Paris. Schlichting was member of the Berlin Secession 1899-1901 and from 1919 to 1921 was Chairman of the Verein Berliner Künstler. The Silesia born artist worked as press illustrator for the New York Herald and The World. In 1904 he participated in the World's Fair in St. Louis. In 1911 he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. In 1912 and 1916 to 1923, he each had the managament of the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. In 1917 he was
