Growing up in Southern California, already as a child, she wanted to become an artist, and entered small, regional contests. Boone then completed a two year course of studies at Fullerton Junior College, where she studied drawing, painting, assemblage art, and jewelry making.
While working at a production studio, she learned many more techniques, including silk-screening, and later taught workshops at several colleges, including at UCLA. Subsequently, she moved to Yosemite, teaching art to children for four years.
