Growing up in a bilingual household in New Mexico, Michael Poncé considered art his native language. Painting and drawing gave voice to the beauty and solitude that captivated him as he explored the Mesilla Valley on horseback. Recording his impressions of the Southwest proved a lifelong passion as he pursued the disciplines of fine art and illustration in academia.
Many years later, Poncé now translates the intimacy and equipoise central to his southwestern compositions into his signature figurative works.
