Born in Denmark on Feb. 24, 1915. Abel came to southern California in 1937 and settled in Laguna Beach. The city council commissioned him to sculpt wooden welcome signs for the entrances to the city. He was active in the local Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters as an exhibitor, member of the board of directors, and grounds manager. Abel was a fixture in the Laguna art scene until his demise on July 1, 1990.
