A master of visual solutions and an esteemed educator and historian, Murray Tinkelman embarked on his life’s journey through art in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, where the world’s richness and diversity was always close at hand. As a boy, his bustling Brownsville apartment building housed one hundred twelve families on six crowded floors and offered early inspiration—incinerator rooms filled with cast-off newspaper comics and coveted Saturday Evening Post magazines that had been destined for recycling during World War II.
