From East Dorset, Vermont, Nancy Howe has become a recognized wildlife painter whose subjects include birds, animals, landscapes, and figurative work. In 1990, she became the first and only woman to win the Federal Duck Stamp Competition, her work was exhibited at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, and she was named among the Top 100 in the Arts for the Parks competition. In 2004, she received a Juror's Choice Award at the exhibition of the American Academy of Women Artists.
Her painting, "Puffins," earned an Award of Excellence during the Society of Animal Artists' exhibition in Ontario, Canada in 1994. Her "Cynature" print won an award in 1995 from the Printing Institute of America, and in February, 1999, she was the featured art
