Nicolaas Bruynesteyn was born in Nieuwer Amstel on March 24, 1893. He was a grandson of artist Bernard Bruynesteyn (1830 - 1920). Nicolaas attended the Quellinus School of Art in Amsterdam from 1908 - 1911. In The Hague he attended the Academy of Fine Arts, from about 1917 - 1919. Bruynesteyn painted still life paintings of city views with canals and landscapes usually with water. He died March 3, 1950.
