Biography Oscar Pafka
The Czech born painter and graphic artist Oskar Pafka, began his
studies at the Professional School of Ceramics in his home town of
Znojmo. Showing great promise there, he was soon accepted to the Master
School for Monumental Sculpting at the School of Applied Arts in
Vienna. Though committed to the program and the desire to hone his
talents, his studies were interrupted by military service in the First
World War -- a devastating experience that would ultimately define his
artistic style and sensibility.
Traversing between Prague, Berlin,
Vienna and Znojmo, Pafka produced artwork imbued with dark humor,
symbolism, allegorical figures, linear motifs, and strong subjects. His
