Biography Oskar Wiggli
After completing his high school, Oscar Wiggli completed a mechanic apprenticeship, followed by two semesters of architectural studies at the ETH Zurich, before becoming a sculptor at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris in 1953. In Grosshöchstetten he worked for a stonemason, and in 1955 he moved into his own studio in Jurassic Muriaux, which he ran to his life station. Wiggli deepened his knowledge in the smithy, received a Swiss art scholarship and participated in the second plastic exhibition in Biel in 1958. He made a profile as an iron sculptor, but also created waxworks. In 1972, his works were shown in the Berner Kunsthalle, and three years later he received the Solothurn art prize.
