Biography Ota Janecek
Ota Janecek studied at the Technical University and the School of Applied Arts in Prague. Here he had his first exhibition in 1942. From 1943 he was a member of the artists' union 'Manes' and two years later became a member of the association 'Hollar'.
Under the influence of the Paris School and Amedeo Modigliani in particular, Janecek created primarily portrayals of women and girls in his earlier works. During this time he also developed an interest in and knowledge of Cubism. In the following years, he created mainly drawings and illustrations.
