Patricio Gimeno was born in Arequipa, Peru on December 25, 1865. Gimeno studied in Spain with M. Rosas and Valencia. He lived in Argentina and Cuba before immigrating to New York City in the 1890s. He came to the University of Oklahoma in 1911 as head of the department of art, and later as head of the romance languages department at that school. Summers were sometimes spent in Laguna Beach. He died in Norman, Oklahoma on August 15, 1940.
