Biography Peterpaul Ott
Born in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia, Peterpaul Ott was known primarily for his sculpture in wood, bronze, terra cotta, tile, and aluminum. He was raised in Dresden and studied there at the Royal College of Fine and Applied Arts. He served in World War I and then studied at the Austrian State Academy of Fine Arts on a four year scholarship.
In 1924, he immigrated to New York City and worked in a factory carving furniture. Soon he began earning commissions for architectural sculpture, doing interiors and exteriors of buildings. He also studied at Cooper Union with Alexander Archipenko.
In 1931, he moved to Chicago where he gave private lessons and taught at Northwestern University and the Evanston Academy of Fine Arts. From 1936 to
