Excerpt from "A Paper on Art and Professional Artists of Cayuga County" by Col. T.J. Kennedy for the county historical society, Auburn Morning News of Friday, March 15, 1878:
"Randall Palmer, a portrait painter, was born in Oneida County painted portraits in Albany for a time; came to Auburn in 1839, from Albany, and located permanently here. Mr. Palmer painted some fine portraits and was justly entitled to be called an artist of merit. At that time the public mind was somewhat excited about the Canadian Patriot war. One of the heroes of the time was William Johnson, or the Hero of the Lakes, as he was called. His daughter, a bright, wholesome looking girl, proved herself a hero on her fath
