Born in Ithaca, MI on June 18, 1909. In 1926 Cowdrey settled in Los Angeles and enrolled at the Otis Art Institute. He further studied at the USC School of Architecture. As a painter he appears to have been most active in the early 1930s. He later worked for Lockheed Aircraft for 32 years. Cowdrey died in Los Angeles on Jan. 22, 1992.
