Richard Schoen Beck was a Prussian officer, hippologist, sculptor and painter of horses. He ended his military career in 1890 to devote himself entirely to painting and his books. Soon he was in the riding scene as important writers and artists. His books "riding and driving" and "Riding ABC" are still available in bookstores.
