Robert Clinch was born 1957, in Cooma, New South Wales, Australia. He is a self-taught painter and lithographer.
Clinch's imagery transports the viewer to a fictional but hauntingly real world; telling accessible tales of loneliness, joy, injustice, humor, melancholy and whimsy. In keeping with his neo-renaissance use of the Egg Tempera medium, he paints entirely from drawings, executed plein-air, often at numerous locations and then adapted for composition in the studio. The same approach is devoted to his hand-drawn limited-edition lithographs.
