Robert H. Wiese was born in Iowa on Nov. 16, 1893.Wiese studied at the Art Institute of Chicago before settling in southern California. He continued his art training with Alfred Mitchell and often joined him on painting excursions. He appears to have divided his time between Desert Hot Springs and Los Angeles. He died in the latter on Dec. 3, 1974. His work includes landscapes of the San Diego back country and the desert around Palm Springs.
