Born in Hingham, MA on Aug. 10, 1876. After graduating from Harvard University in 1899, Burnham entered the American Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in 1907. He then studied sculpture with Caroline Hunt Rimmer. From 1912-17 he taught modeling at Harvard's School of Architecture. He spent time in Rome and Hawaii until 1922 when he arrived in California. In his studio in the Berkeley hills, he fulfilled several portrait commissions. In 1925 he settled in Los Angeles and taught at Otis Art Institute until 1932.
