Biography Ronald DeNota
Born in the Bronx of New York, Ronald DeNota was a painter of
celebratory scenes of New York City, especially genre and
landscape. With his long-time partner, Lucy Burns, he lived in
Greenwich Village and also had a studio in Tribeca. He died in
2007 from Parkinson's disease.
DeNota was raised by foster parents on a farm near Swan Lake in the
Catskill Mountains. HIs mother, a professional ball room dancer,
was abandoned by his father, and, unable to support her son, found a
home for him with friends, Mabel and Arthur Kilcoin, who provided a
secure environment. He attended the local high school and the
Oakland Military Academy, where he learned to paint. He was in
