Biography Rudolph Mueller
A landscape painter, clay modeler, toymaker and shoemaker, Rudolph Mueller was born in Saxony, Germany and migrated with his family to Castroville, Texas when he was a child. To earn money, he was a shoemaker, but he painted in his spare time. Then, when his eyesight began to fail, he took up clay modeling and made small mechanical toys for children.
He died in Castroville of a heart attack in 1920. His work is in the Witte Museum in San Antonio and the University of Texas Institute of Texan Cultures at San Antonio.
