Ruth Forrest was a native Rhode Island artist who graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in the 1940s. Upon graduation she accepted a teaching position at the Cranston Schools where she remained for 38 years as an art instructor. During those productive years, Ms. Forrest explored printmaking and watercolor painting. T
he majority of her woodcuts, wood engravings, and linoleum cuts were executed within a ten year period between 1940 and 1950.
