Biography Ruth Osgood
“Ruth Osgood – a third generation Californian, graduated from Newport High School, and then took nurses training in Billings, Montana. She served as an Army nurse in Europe during World War II. Miss Osgood took her formal training at Chouinard School of Art in Los Angeles. She feels that her nursing career helped her to see life, and thus enabled her to paint life. Her studio is in her home on Balboa Island, where one may see her working on as many as five paintings at once. Ruth Osgood’s subjects are varied and indicate her wide range of interest from horses and gulls to religious themes. She enjoys painting Siamese cats and often uses her own three.
