Landscape painter and illustrator. Long given incorrect birth (1900) and death (1957) dates, Wylie was actually born in Indiana in 1882, the son of Sara Seabrook Mitchell (1857 – 1899) and Samuel Brown Wylie III (1854 – 1890), both of whom died when Wylie was still a child. By 1900, he and his siblings were being raised by his aunt, Elizabeth Louisa Boisen (1839 – 1930) in the home of his grandmother, Rebecca Dennis Wylie (1812 – 1913), located on 2nd Street
