Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 11, 1867, Bons (né Bonquois) settled in San Francisco in 1892. He worked as a chauffeur, salesman, lithographer, and at one time had an art studio on lower Market Street. He died in San Francisco on December 22, 1944. His colorful oils include still lifes, missions, and scenes of the San Francisco Bay area.
