Samuel Rosenberg was active/lived in Pennsylvania.  Samuel Rosenberg is known for modernist, surreal urban views, portrait and abstract painting.

Biography   Samuel Rosenberg


Samuel Rosenberg's career as an artist and teacher spans nearly six decades.  His style evolved during his career that can be described in four periods.  From 1915-1930 Rosenberg mainly painted portraits.  The artist turned to Pittsburgh's urban landscape and American Scene* paintings from 1930-1942.  From 1942 -1952, he experimented with allegory* and abstraction, and finally from 1949-1972 during the period when the artist felt he had come into his own, he explored Abstract Expressionism*. Throughout his career Rosenberg's art always emphasized the the importance of light.
