Santiago Martinez Delgado: Muralist, painter, sculptor and illustrator.
Born 1906 in Bogotá Colombia, Master Santiago Martinez Delgado established his reputation as the most prominent muralist in Colombia during the 1940's. He was a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright and had a strong Art Deco influence.
He attended the Chicago Fine Arts Academy under the tutoring of Ruth VanSickle Ford, where he was awarded the Logan Medal for his mural at the 1933 Chicago International Fair. He spent time at Taliesin with the Frank Lloyd Wright Fellows, and did some illustrations for Esquire Magazine.
Back in Colombia he won the gold medal in the 1940 Salon Nacional de Artistas, and won the first Price in 1941.
