Biography Scott Fraser
A realist painter, he creates "trompe l'oeil" still lifes, so realistic seeming that they "fool the eye." His goal is to give common, everyday objects a life of their own.
He lives near Boulder, Colorado and studied at the Kansas City Art Institute, the University of Colorado at Denver and Atelierhaus Worpswede in Germany. In the 1980s, he was in Germany and learned the Old Master techniques of glazing or building up luminous surfaces of oil paint.
Fraser had solo exhibits at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa and the Evansville Museum of Arts and Science in Indiana in 1998. In 2004 he had a show titled "Still Lifes With Magic and Mystery" at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle.
